Facebook gives people the ability to list their current relationship status. Now, when a user indicates that they have separated from the relationship, the user will be asked if they want to see less of their "ex's" name and profile picture. It is giving the user more leverage, they won't have to necessarily block/delete their ex, they will have the option to see less.
The user also will be given the option to limit which of their own post their "ex" can view.
The product manager Kelly Winters mentioned that the company have been hearing a lot of questions pertaining to Facebook and what happens after a breakup. Winters goes on to say "We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control."
